Emera Postpones Planned Outage Affecting EMEC Members

Planned Outage in Southern Aroostook and Stacyville-Patten
Now Scheduled for Sunday, December 11: 1am - 4am

Eastern Maine Electric was notified Friday evening, December 2nd, that Emera Maine is postponing its Aroostook County and Northern Penobscot planned outage. The reason for the postponement is that they are still cleaning up power outages in Northern Aroostook from the 12/1/16 storm. The early morning transmission-line outage, which will also affect two of Eastern Maine Electric's substations, is now scheduled for Sunday, December 11th, from 1:00 am until 5:00 a.m.

The Emera Maine transmission line serving Eastern Maine Electric’s Patten and Ludlow substations will go offline on Sunday morning, December 4th, 11th from 1:00 a.m. until approximately 5:00 a.m. The resulting outage will affect the members of Eastern Maine Electric in Southern Aroostook County and the Patten-Stacyville area.

The transmission-line outage will affect Co-op members in the following towns:

  • Amity

  • Benedicta

  • Cary

  • Crystal

  • Dyer Brook

  • Hammond

  • Hersey

  • Hodgdon

  • Houlton

  • Island Falls

  • Mount Chase

  • New Limerick

  • Oakfield

  • Orient

  • Patten

  • Sherman

  • Silver Ridge

  • Smyrna

The outage is to accommodate Emera’s work on its transmission line. Eastern Maine Electric’s line crews will make use the outage to conduct offline work on the home system. In the event of heavy rain, this outage will be conducted one week later, on Sunday, December 11, 2016.
