Temporary COVID-19 Precautions
The employees are continuing to work the same schedules as in the past. Eastern Maine Electric still available by phone 24 hours a day for outage calls. For non-emergency service calls or account-related calls, Co-op employees are available during regular office hours. In addition, members can manage and pay their electric accounts online via SmartHub twenty-four hours a day.
Eastern Maine Electric's lobby remains closed to the public, but an entry area is open during office hours with a drop box and a phone for dialing the available attendant. If you stop by to use the office phone, please remember that the attendant may also be on other incoming calls. For those who need to make cash payments in person, Bangor Savings Bank can take EMEC payments through their drive-through.
These temporary precautions are intended to protect EMEC members and employees, and to avoid service disruptions. We look forward to the day this historic challenge is behind all of us.

Q: If the lobby is closed, how can I pay with cash?
A: Bangor Savings Bank drive-through locations accept EMEC cash payments. If a bank is not nearby, most post offices sell money orders, and they can be sent safely through postal mail.
Q: What if I need to have electricity connected or disconnected while distancing precautions are in place?
A: Call (800) 696-7444, menu option 3 from 8-5 M-F, just as you always have. Member-requested service connections and disconnections are being handled largely the same, as are many service-related calls. We ask, however, that members respect the recommended 6-foot physical distancing if interacting with the Cooperative's linemen.
